A swarm of near-Earth asteroids is passing closer to Earth than the Earth-Moon separation distance right now, suggesting that we're currently passing through an asteroid jet stream. In-general because of this, the risk of asteroid impacts at this point in Earth's orbit is elevated. This follows just after Earth experienced a surge in large fireball activity from March to mid-April of this year (2026). What's happening in our near-Earth environment?
