For the first time in this entire saga, a federal judge just ruled against Bricks & Minifigs.

BAM sued its own franchisees for leaking internal documents. Then it used that lawsuit to try to unmask the anonymous reporter behind The BAM Map, demanding the site operator's name, IP logs, and even payment information from its web hosts. The publisher swore under penalty of perjury that they are not a franchisee, not an employee, and not a party to any agreement with BAM.

On October 16, the same federal judge who granted BAM's request two weeks earlier froze it. He blocked the web hosts from producing anything, ordered BAM to lock away anything it had already received, and signed the order the BAM Map's lawyers proposed, word for word. BAM offered the court six fallback options. The judge adopted none of them.

In this video, I walk through the actual court filings as a civil litigator with more than 15 years of experience: what BAM told the judge it needed, what it actually asked for, the publisher's sworn declaration, and what this order signals about where the case is headed.
