Newcastle were gifted two first-half goals with Wissa and Gordon the beneficiaries. The second half was a bit more of a low-key affair, but Barnes made sure of the win with a lovely solo goal. The upshot is that Newcastle are up to seventh, but they are one of eight teams on 13 points ahead of the final game of the league phase, so there's still plenty of work to do to secure a top-eight finish, not least because they travel to holders Paris Saint-Germain next week (one of those teams on 13 points, coincidentally). PSV - whose xG of 0.34 was vastly inferior to Newcastle's 2.52 - are 22nd and in a battle to remain inside the top 24, which would be enough for a play-off place. Howe will be absolutely delighted with that one, and as well he should be.
