David Schwartz, Ripple's CTO, recently challenged the idea that hash power determines the name "Bitcoin" in the cryptocurrency world. This logic suggests that miners, who contribute computing power to secure the Bitcoin network, control the currency's identity. Schwartz argues that users, not miners, should decide what defines Bitcoin. This debate highlights the ongoing discussion about the decentralization and governance of cryptocurrencies.

Swiss proponents of Bitcoin are pushing the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to add Bitcoin to its reserves. They believe Bitcoin's unique characteristics make it a valuable asset for the central bank.
One approach involves a petition to change Switzerland's constitution. If successful, this would mandate the SNB to hold Bitcoin.
Another strategy is direct persuasion. Bitcoin advocates are meeting with SNB officials to present their arguments.
The SNB has so far been unconvinced, citing concerns about Bitcoin's volatility and its suitability as a reserve currency. However, the SNB has acknowledged that it can technically hold Bitcoin if it chooses to do so.
