Anthony Gordon put Newcastle ahead from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time before Casemiro equalised moments later for Manchester United. Jacob Ramsey was then sent off before the break, but Newcastle still found a dramatic late winner through Will Osula despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Howe describes it as a massive win after a difficult recent run in the league and praises the mentality of his players for refusing to feel sorry for themselves after the red card. He reflects on Osula’s brilliant late goal, reveals the striker stayed behind after training to work on extra finishing, and says the squad ran through brick walls for the club.
