Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell faced a number of heated questions during his press conference on November 7 following the U.S. central bank’s decision to lower interest rates by 25 basis points to a 4.5%-4.75% range. Powell said he would not resign his post if President-elect Donald Trump asked him to do so. He also admitted that the U.S. debt levels are “ultimately a threat to the U.S. economy.” He added that election results wont have impact on monetary policy decisions in the near term.
