Newcastle manager Eddie Howe admitted on Saturday the situation with Alex Isak "is far from ideal" after the club rejected a bid from Liverpool for the disgruntled striker.

Reports in the UK media say Liverpool made a formal offer £110-million for Isak, short of the £120-million Newcastle are looking receive for the Swede.

"I was made aware that there was a bid," Howe said in Seoul where Newcastle will wrap it's Asia tour with a match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

"We still support Alex in every way and my wish is still that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again."

Liverpool reportedly do not plan another for Isak, who is not with Newcastle on their Asia tour.

"You don't know what's going to happen from this point," Howe said. "I've got no idea of trying to predict that."

Newcastle will face Spurs a day after Son Heung-min announced he plans to leave after ten years at the club for the Korean star.

Howe praised Son, knowing Sunday's match could possibly his last in a Tottenham jersey.

"He's one of the legends of the Premier League....great moment to share his last game for Tottenham against us."
